Migration Social Work (MSA) supports refugees in several areas:

Values, norms of our society, everyday skills, material security, language, social contacts, work and education, health, housing, crisis management as well as in special personal circumstances.

The professionals of the migration social work provide free and independent advice.

Migration counseling centers (MBE) provide help for refugees and other migrants on the following topics:

• Social benefits and income
• Language acquisition/language courses
• Housing
• Health, disability and care
• School, training, career and work
• Residence and family reunification
• Marriage, family and education
• Leisure and everyday issues

An appointment is required for counseling. The counseling is free of charge.

The professionals of the Youth Migration Service (JMD) advise and accompany young people with a migration background: children, young people up to the age of 27 and their families.

The offers of Youth Migration Service are:

• Counseling sessions on the topics: School, career, training, studies, education, family and health
• Information on the various language courses and possibilities of language support
• Information and orientation in legal conflicts and opposition matters
• Intensive help in problem situations
• Help in personal or family crisis situations
• Accompaniment to offices and other specialized services
• Counseling for parents on questions of education, training and schooling
• Information events on youth-specific topics (e.g. school and training systems, voluntary services)
• Networking, community work

The counseling of the Youth Migration Service is free of charge for you or your children and independent of religion and residence status.

Asylum seekers and recognized refugees are supported in arriving, settling and integrating in Dresden. The social workers in the Social Welfare Office also offer an open consultation time. You can find more information about the assistance offered by the social welfare office here.

You are a migrant and have difficulties with authorities, property owners or employers? You have received a letter and do not understand what it is about or what you can do about it? Or perhaps you have other problems that you cannot cope with because you live in a country that is still foreign to you?
The counseling center of the Ausländerrat e. V. can be your first point of contact. The professionals will try to help you themselves, and if they can't, they will show you who else you can turn to. The counseling is free of charge. Counseled are:

•  Asylum seekers and other refugees
•  Late repatriates and their family members
•  Jewish immigrants
•  Foreign family members of Germans
•  All other migrants

The team speaks German, English, Russian, Turkish and Azerbaijani. Additional languages can be offered.

The specialists support people seeking advice in filling out forms or accompany them to authorities. The employees interpret/translate at doctor's appointments and visits to the authorities or arrange translations.

The services offered include:

•  Advice on social issues and everyday problems as well as professional and social integration
•  Accompaniment during visits to authorities (immigration office, housing office, social welfare office, school office, youth welfare office, job center...)
•  Mediation of legal and special counseling (counseling for marriage, family and debt matters)
•  Help with filling out forms and applications.

Counseling is also available in Vietnamese, English, Spanish and Portuguese.

•  Learning and performance problems or problems in Kindergarten, school or training occur.
• separation or divorce is stressful.

•  help is needed in cases of sexual abuse or violence.

The counseling is confidential and free of charge.

In addition to individual and family discussions, group discussions are also possible if required.

Children and adolescents can also contact the counseling center with their questions and problems without adults.

Youth Counseling Center

The Youth Counseling Center (JBC) is for all young people who would need information, counseling or support on their path to training, qualification, career or study and beyond.

Youth and Drug Counseling

The Youth and Drug Counseling Center works citywide. The staff of the youth and drug-counseling center provides support and help to young people who use illegal drugs and are therefore confronted with.

The services are open to all Dresden residents (young people and adults). Counseling is confidential and free of charge.

There are numerous support options for homeless people in Dresden: From overnight accommodations, daytime meeting places and counseling to free drinking water.

If homelessness is imminent or has already occurred, there are counseling opportunities at the Social Welfare Office (Team Wohnungslosenhilfe) and at three counseling centers.

The Homeless Assistance Team provides the following assistance services:

•  Counseling and assistance for homeless people
•  Accommodation in municipal transitional houses
•  Placement in further care, for example, assisted living.

The team at the Counseling Center for AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections provides anonymous and free counseling for sex workers on a wide variety of topics related to their work. In a confidential atmosphere, questions are answered and support is offered wherever it is needed.
