Photography in Dresden

Camera manufacture and the paper industry, research in corporations and at the Technical University, important photography studios and extensive collections – these have all shaped the historical and international significance of Dresden as a centre of photography.

Archives, libraries and museums of the city collect and preserve the witnesses of this heritage, but also show current works. Thousands of pieces of equipment and millions of photographs are conserved here, researched, and made accessible to the public.

A new website points the way to these treasures for lovers of photography, researchers, image investigators, and visitors to the city.
