Cheaper, faster and eco-friendlier – with series-produced lightweight components

Herone GmbH is a spin-off of the TU Dresden’s Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology. With its own production plant in the Saxon state capital’s Meschwitz industrial park, the company specialises in developing and manufacturing thermoplastic fibre-composite profiles for high-performance applications, such as those required in the aerospace industry. Its USP is a thermoplastic production technology that significantly reduces the amount of manual work previously needed in manufacturing, while simultaneously relying on recyclable materials. This has enabled Herone to produce fibre-composite materials faster and more cost-effectively, earning it the 2019 Saxon Start-up Award. One potential area of application is air taxis, for which Herone is hoping to supply series-produced lightweight components in future.
