The new ExciteLab is another milestone in Dresden's development as an economic and innovation centre: the opening will create a new space for creative and technical expertise and young companies. The ExciteLab is specifically designed to support high-tech start-ups and promote the region as a whole.

New additions and expansions from Infineon, TSMC and Jenoptik speak for themselves: Dresden is on the rise throughout Germany and is a focal point for the high-tech industry. The ExciteLab is another locational advantage that makes the region even more attractive, especially for younger companies.

To increase the attractiveness and visibility of Dresden for international talent and investors:These are the self-imposed goals of the ExciteLab, which focuses on key technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), semiconductors, robotics, sensors and quantum computing. The aim is also to boost the competitiveness of the region as a whole. This also includes bringing science and industry together even more effectively. The aim is to significantly shorten the development time between the initial idea and final market maturity.

The already established Leipzig SpinLab is responsible for the ExciteLab in cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden. They are pooling their experience to promote innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship in Dresden and the region. They are supported by leading companies such as Infineon, Mazars and ZEISS – through both technical and regional expertise. At the same time, the ExciteLab is part of TUD|excite – the Centre of Excellence for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship at TU Dresden.

The focus is on the six-month Accelerator programme. It will start for the first time next October – applications will be accepted until 27 August 2024.Among other things, the programme offers one-on-one mentoring, access to the start-up community and partner networks, exciting pilot programmes and free or reduced participation in industry events. In addition, funding totalling 6,000 euros or more is available.
