Dresden branch of the archives of the former East German secret police

The Federal Archives - Stasi Records Archive Dresden contains 8,239 meters of documents and 3 million index cards. The documents originate from the District Administration for State Security as well as the 16 district offices and the Stasi's “TU Dresden” object office in the Dresden district. The tour explains the activities in the archive, the working methods of the MfS and their effects. In addition, examples are presented using original files. Guided tours of the archives are only possible by appointment. A public tour takes place once a month at 16:30. During opening hours, it is possible to view changing exhibitions, read through sample files or apply for access to files on site.
