Private cars

As in every major city, the private car is also an important means of transport in Dresden. Two motorways and six national trunks roads link the Saxon capital into the German and European road networks.

Since 1990, considerable sums have been invested in expansion of the road network, in parking facilities and in intelligent traffic control systems. Further major construction projects are in preparation. The central objective pursued by the city administration and its partners is to make road transport more efficient and less harmful to the environment.
