Mayor Dirk Hilbert

The Lord Mayor is the Chairman of the City Council and head of the city administration. He chairs the decision-making bodies, i.e. the City Council and its decision-making committees. He heads the city administration and is responsible for the internal organisation and ongoing administrative business. The Lord Mayor executes the resolutions of the City Council and its committees. A term of office is seven years.

On 11 July 2022, the people of Dresden confirmed Dirk Hilbert (Unabhängige Bürger für Dresden e.V.) in his office as Lord Mayor, which he has held since 2015, with 45.3 percent of the vote.
